About this lesson

A Segment is a living definition of people or accounts who match certain rules. It updates automatically as activity and attributes change, so you don’t keep exporting lists. You build a segment by combining Events (what happened and when) with Attributes (who they are), and usually a time window to keep it fresh. 

Use OR when you want a wider audience- people who purchased or added to cart. Use AND when you want a stronger signal- viewed pricing and is on a free plan. Name segments clearly so teams reuse them with confidence. Once saved, a segment can trigger a Journey, personalize a page, or sync to a destination audience- all from one definition. 

Keep the logic readable and tied to your goals. With a small library of well-named segments, targeting becomes simpler, timing improves, and your campaigns stay in step with real behavior.
